Recently, we went out to eat at Chili’s with a friend and experienced the joy of getting a dessert served to us that we didn’t have to pay for. The waiter sat a huge piece of succulent chocolate cake heaped with vanilla ice-cream in front of us and smiled. As we looked up with surprise, awe, and thanks, he simply said “you’re welcome” and walked away.  On the drive home, we were thinking of the kindness in his gesture and realized that this wasn’t just a kind gesture. This man gave us something that “we” should have had to pay for, but he put it “on the house!”
I think you all know where we are going with this! As we embark on arguably one of the best times of the year, the celebration of our Lord’s Resurrection, this young man did something that was symbolic of what Jesus did for each and every one of us! Jesus took our sins, transgressions, trespasses, and iniquities and paid for them with His blood. In other words, He said “Yes, they are your sins, but you don’t have to pay for them………It’s on the House!” His payment for our sins far surpasses someone picking up the tab on a piece of cake or any meal for that matter———His payment does take the cake! What He did for us can never be paid back! A simple thank you isn’t enough!  When you get something “on the house” at a restaurant, it’s free to you, but someone has to pay for it. It comes out of the restaurant’s budget. We think salvation is free, and it is for us, but someone had to pay for it, and that someone was Jesus! He picked up the tab so that you could enjoy an abundant life!
So how do you pay someone back who put all of your transgressions “on the house?” —-Truthfully, we will never be able to fully repay Him for what He did, but what we can do is live for Him, deny ourselves, follow Him, and turn away from our former selves.

Chili’s carried the cost……..Jesus carried the cross!
Happy Resurrection!!!!!!!
