While many people are enjoying the festivities of the holiday season and following various recipes for tasty treats and desserts, we thought it would be nice to conjure up a recipe for something that everyone—-and we mean everyone—–needs a taste of. And that is——– Kindness!
Yes, we love the taste of pies, cookies, cakes, and other sweet holiday treats, but what we love more is the taste of kind words rolling off of our tongues! The Christmas season is about so much more than gifts, music, gatherings, celebrations, great food, and exquisite desserts. It’s about spreading joy, love, and kindness.
The bible tells us that “Kind words are like honey——sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.” Proverbs 16:24
We should be intentional in having friendly encouraging conversations with others, giving compliments, greeting others with kind salutations, saying “please” and “thank you”, and saying “Merry Christmas!”
Why is this important? Well, simply put—–people need your kindness! As the scripture says, kind words are sweet and healthy for you—–and the person you speak kindness to! Don’t you want yourself and others to experience sweetness and not bitterness? Life and not death? (Proverbs 18:21)
You may not have any idea what people are going through. They may be one nasty word away from losing it or one bad interaction away from breaking down. Imagine your kindness keeping someone from spiraling downward or becoming depressed!!!!!
We have a recipe to help spread some kindness and it doesn’t involve chocolate chips, nutmeg, vanilla, or sugar, but it is sweet and life-giving!
See recipe below
- 1 cup of Humility- Ephesians 4:2
- 9 cups of Fruit of the Spirit (1 cup of each fruit)- Galatians 5:22-23
- 3 cups of Grace- Colossians 4:6
- 1/2 cup of Encouragement- 1 Thessalonians 5:11
- 1/4 cup of Compassion- Colossians 3:12
- 1 whole Smile (showing teeth optional)
Directions:Pre-heat your heart with prayer, worship, and thanksgiving! This is a must. You have to warm up those cold areas. Next, gather all of your ingredients and corresponding scriptures and meditate on them. Mix all the ingredients together and hide them in your heart. Finally, go about your day looking for someone to spread kindness and cheer to.
If you follow the recipe correctly, kind words should be spilling out of you, bubbling over, and you should be blessing others with your sweetness!
Enjoy!!!!!!! And Merry Christmas!!!!!! May your words and actions be as sweet as pie!
